Hugh Lanham FCA

Having qualified as a Chartered Accountant in London in 1978, Hugh reached partnership in a Cambridge firm relatively early on in his career.

In 1986 he broke away to form Lanham and Company. Due to a strong commitment to service and staff development the firm grew to a point where Hugh has been able to take a back seat in recent years. His main activities as Chairman are now focussed on practice development, and he is still called upon for strategic support and advice to the firm and to its clients.

Hugh’s talent for financial consultancy, in particular corporate strategy and mentoring, has been of great benefit to Lanham and Company and the other organisations he has worked with over the years. His ability to foster new ways of thinking and to help individuals and teams to develop their skills has been a recipe for success in several cases.

Outside Lanham and Company, Hugh has been a director of many organisations, including small businesses, housing associations, charities and a building society. His musical talent has led him to public performances playing the flute and singing.

Stewart Wakefield FCA

Stewart trained with a major regional firm of Chartered Accountants and joined us in October 1993 as a qualified Chartered Accountant.

Stewart’s wealth of technical accountancy knowledge means he’s always coming up with new ideas and solving difficult problems. Responsible for the company’s IT, Stewart keeps Lanham and Company technologically advanced and constantly improving in efficiency and effectiveness.

His specialist client base is in property development companies and as a result of this he has become proficient in dealing with different groups structures and Limited Liability Partnerships (LLPs).

Stewart’s other interests are mainly sporting, including skiing and sailing. He is also Treasurer for Whittlesford United Football Club.

Andrew Ireland FCCA

Andrew joined us in 1989 as a trainee and qualified as a Chartered Certified Accountant in 1995. Having successfully developed his whole career at Lanham and Company, he has an unbeatable grounding in our ethos and techniques.

Andrew specialises in charity and not for profit clients. In addition to co-ordinating the ‘Finance Director’ service he runs the team filling the ‘Finance Controller’ gap within client companies, assisting the directors with financial reporting and decision making to achieve their business goals. Andrew also holds responsibility for staff training and HR at the company.

Outside work, Andrew’s interest in the entertainment industry has led to involvement with an independent record label and a lighting company. He also enjoys clay pigeon shooting.
